Lee Jae Myung Rules Out Sending South Korean Troops to the Strait of Hormuz
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung ruled out the deployment of combat troops to the Strait of Hormuz, stating that South Korea will not participate in external conflicts. However, he noted that the country must protect its citizens, merchant vessels, and oil supply routes through 'the minimum level of activities.' The Cheonghae military unit has already expanded its mission in the region, while Seoul evaluates resources such as maritime patrol aircraft, explosive ordnance disposal teams, and unmanned systems for detecting naval mines.
