Shadow fleet tanker leaking oil off Oman coast, satellite imagery confirms
A sanctions-hit tanker identified as the Caroline Bezengi is leaking crude oil off Oman's coast, with satellite imagery from July 28 showing dark slicks near the vessel and lighter patches north of al-Qibliyyah island. The ship, which loaded Russian oil at Novorossiysk before its voyage, first reported difficulties on June 8 off Mukalla, Yemen. Remote-sensing specialists warn the monsoon season could rapidly spread the crude oil across the protected marine area.
