Panama Reduces Maximum Draft in Neopanamax Locks to 48 and 47.5 Feet

The Panama Canal announced new draft adjustments for the Neopanamax locks: 48 feet (14.63 meters) effective August 26, 2026, and 47.5 feet (14.48 meters) from September 3. The measure responds to projections for Gatun Lake and is part of the water management strategy implemented since December 2025 for the 2026 dry season, with no changes to the number of daily transits.
