Somali Pirate Group Abandons Dhow Citing Increased Security Warnings
An 11-member Somali pirate group abandoned a seized Emirati dhow, Fahad-4, on May 4 after running low on supplies and facing increased security warnings from MSCIO and Atalanta in the Gulf of Aden. The group had attempted to approach the Malta-flagged tanker Minerva Pisces (105,475-dwt) on April 28, but armed security personnel repelled the attack. However, at least three other merchant vessels remain under pirate control off the Somali coast.
