Suape Industrial Port Complex inaugurates first engine powered almost exclusively by ethanol
Pernambuco inaugurated the world's first engine powered almost exclusively by ethanol for thermoelectric generation, a result of the collaboration between Suape Energia and Wärtsilä Energy. The pilot plant has a capacity of 4 megawatts, was developed in Finland, and adapted to operate with Brazilian ethanol. CEO Armando Monteiro Bisneto highlighted that the project reinforces Suape as a strategic environment for innovation and decarbonization, positioning Pernambuco as a benchmark in energy transition.
