Boskalis Launches Windpiper, World's Largest Subsea Rock Installation Vessel
Dutch marine contractor Boskalis officially christened the Windpiper, the world's largest subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel, following an 18-month conversion project. Measuring 227 meters long and 40 meters wide, the DP2-class vessel can carry up to 45,500 metric tons of rock in two cargo holds, doubling Boskalis' SRI capacity. The vessel is expected to support offshore wind and subsea infrastructure projects, with initial assignments planned in Northwest Europe and potential operations along the U.S. East Coast, the Baltic Sea, and the southern North Sea.
