Miami-Dare County Plans to Take Over PortMiami's Fuel Depot
Miami-Dade County will pursue an eminent domain proceeding to seize the fuel depot serving PortMiami, located on Fisher Island and the only fuel source for vessels operating from Miami. The facility was sold to developers Russell Galbut and the Related Group in 2025 for $180 million; commissioners will attempt to pay less than the $400 million asking price. A previous agreement requires fuel sales to continue through May 2027.
