PORTS OF BALBOA AND CRISTÓBAL SHOW A POSITIVE RECOVERY TREND
The ports of Balboa and Cristóbal show positive recovery after the decline in February 2026 when the government took control. Balboa went from 153,840 movements in March to 221,536 in May (a 44.0% rebound), surpassing the May 2025 volume by 1.9%. Cristóbal rose from 46,408 to 71,096 movements (a 53.2% increase), reflecting positive signs for the normalization of port activity at both ends of the Panama Canal.
