Seasats deploys Lightfish USV fleet for Gulf of America maritime border security
Seasats announced the deployment of a fleet of Lightfish unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in the Gulf of America to support U.S. maritime border security operations. Launched from the Texas coast, the autonomous vessels will conduct persistent surveillance to detect illegal maritime activity, including drug trafficking and unauthorized vessel ingress. The deployment expands operations that began in January 2026 on the Rio Grande. Each Lightfish is roughly 11 feet long and 340 pounds, solar powered, and capable of multi-month endurance on station.
