Intra-Asian Freight Index Rises 1% and Reaches All-Time High for Third Week
Drewry's Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) recorded a 1% increase this week, reaching USD 1,323 per 40-foot container and breaking its all-time high for the third consecutive week. Geopolitical disruptions and typhoons are restricting available capacity, while waiting times in Chinese ports reached 64 hours in Shanghai and Ningbo. China will inaugurate the Pinglu Canal on September 15, which could stabilize freight rates in the coming weeks.
