Why Lars Jensen Is Driving 40,000 Miles Across Africa to Study the Future of Trade
Lars Jensen, the most widely cited analyst in container shipping, will embark on an 18-month journey across Africa starting July 1 from Copenhagen, covering more than 40,000 miles through 41 countries in his 1987 Volkswagen camper van. Co-sponsored by Hapag-Lloyd AG, DSV A/S, and Nexxiot AG, the expedition aims to explore opportunities and risks in Africa's logistics market, projected to reach $447 billion by the end of the decade, with African maritime trade expected to more than double to 132 million tons by 2030.
