Global survey examines maritime technology's impact on seafarers
The Nautical Institute launched the #ListeningToSeafarers survey, part of the STEER Project (Seafarer Technology Engagement, Empowerment and Resilience), developed with Lloyd's Register Foundation. The initiative seeks input from maritime professionals worldwide on how automation, digitalization, and AI affect working conditions, safety, and skills. The two-and-a-half-year project aims to develop practical tools and guidance supporting safer technology adoption across the maritime sector.
