Maritime Freight Anticipates New Escalation After April Calm
The EAX Index closed April at $2,761 per FEU on the Asia-Mexico-WCSA route, a 1.71% decrease compared to March. However, capacity cuts implemented by shipowners in anticipation of the Chinese holiday from May 1-5 are already driving increases of between $500 and $1,000 per FEU in May, bringing forward the start of the Peak Season.
