Tarragona Cruise Port simultaneously welcomed three cruise ships: MSC Virtuosa from MSC Cruises, Norwegian Dawn from Norwegian Cruise Line, and Viking Star from Viking Ocean Cruises.
In total, 12,508 passengers passed through the Moll de Balears for embarkation, disembarkation, and transit operations.
Since the beginning of the season in early April, Tarragona Cruise Port has accumulated 37 calls and 68,263 cruise passengers.
The forecast for this season is 80 calls, which will be a record for the port of Tarragona, and 160,000 people.
Of the three cruise ships that called at Tarragona, MSC Virtuosa and Norwegian Dawn made their first visit, while Viking Star first docked in the city on June 21.
MSC Virtuosa arrived from Palma de Mallorca with 6,338 cruise passengers on board, as part of a 14-day cruise connecting the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, which includes calls in Southampton (United Kingdom), Lisbon, Cadiz, Malaga, Alicante, Gibraltar, and A Coruña.
This ship was launched by MSC in 2021. It is 331 meters long, has 19 decks, and 1,704 crew members. This was the first of two calls the vessel will make this year at the Port and one of the 32 calls the shipping company has scheduled in Tarragona during the 2026 season.
Regarding the Norwegian Dawn, 2,623 people disembarked and 2,647 embarked. The latter began an eight-day itinerary, which started in Tarragona and includes calls in Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Motril, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Portimão, and Lisbon, where it concludes.
The ship is 294 meters long and has a crew of 1,032 people. In this case, it is also the first of two visits the vessel will make to the port of Tarragona and one of the company's three calls.
Viking Star, for its part, embarked 900 passengers at the start of a seven-day itinerary through the Western Mediterranean, with stops in Sète (France), Marseille, Monte Carlo, Livorno (Florence), and Civitavecchia (Rome).
The vessel, 228 meters long with a crew of 465 people, made its second call in the city. This season it will make a total of four calls.
Viking Star is one of eight different ships with which Viking Ocean Cruises will operate in Tarragona this year. In total, 17 calls and 34,000 passengers from this shipping company are planned.
From the start of the season on April 16 until August 2, Tarragona Cruise Port has recorded 37 calls and 68,263 passengers. The forecast for this season is 80 calls and 160,000 cruise passengers.
