Hutchison Ports Best received the official Calculate and Reduce seal from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Miteco) of Spain, in recognition of its 2024 carbon footprint.
According to the company, this recognition highlights its ability to combine operational efficiency with environmental commitment, certifying not only the rigorous calculation of its emissions but also the effective implementation of reduction measures.
Registered in this registry since 2021, the reference year for calculating its carbon footprint, Best stated that it has maintained continuous monitoring of its emissions and a sustained improvement strategy. In 2024, this work resulted for the first time in the Reduction qualification, following the verification of an emissions decrease during the three years subsequent to the reference year, in accordance with the criteria established by Miteco.
The registered carbon footprint covers emissions derived from the activities of the Hutchison Ports Best terminal. The Calculate and Reduce label certifies a verifiable decrease in the terminal's greenhouse gas emissions and provides the market with a solid benchmark for the operator's environmental performance, in line with its decarbonization strategy and the new transparency requirements of the logistics and port environment.
According to the company, this result is a fruit of its progress with the electrification of equipment, process optimization, and the incorporation of low-emission technological solutions.
"With this certification, Best strengthens its position as a benchmark terminal in sustainability and innovation in Europe and consolidates a value proposition that combines operational capacity, technology, and environmental commitment to support our clients in the transition towards more competitive, resilient, and sustainable logistics chains," said Guillermo Belcastro, CEO of Hutchison Ports Best.
