With the aim of reducing the risk of floods and preventing accumulated trash in streets and public spaces from reaching the sea, personnel from the Ecology Sub-management of the National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA) permanently work on cleaning drains and drainage systems, as well as collecting waste that people throw in public areas and that ultimately ends up polluting the sea.
As part of these actions, on Tuesday, June 23, a new cleaning brigade was carried out in the vicinity of Salagua beach, where cigarette butts, PET containers, plastic bags, broken glass, and a large quantity of polluting and dangerous objects were collected from the streets adjacent to this beach.
During this day, 138.4 kilograms of waste were collected, which were deposited in 19 bags for proper final disposal.
Following instructions from the General Director of ASIPONA Manzanillo, Admiral José Ignacio Moreno Díaz, the institution works daily to contribute to building a cleaner and ecologically responsible municipality, for the benefit of Manzanillo and Mexico.
