The Port of Long Beach recognized Bali Express Services' efforts to establish a green truck corridor between Long Beach and Mexico.
Dr. Noel Hacegaba, Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach, and Long Beach Harbor Commissioners joined Jacobeth Hernández Mendoza, Consul for Economic Affairs at the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, and Juan Baez, Director of Bali Express Services Company, to commemorate the company's commitment to using clean trucks to transport cargo along an approximately 200-kilometer route between the port and Mexico, the United States' largest trading partner.
Hacegaba spoke about the importance of trade between the United States and Mexico, whose bilateral exchange reaches a record 872.83 billion dollars annually. He added that almost 90% of that trade is conducted by land, primarily by road.
Over the past year, Bali has transported cargo between the Port of Long Beach and Bali Express facilities in San Diego County, as well as across the border into Mexico, using a combination of compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and electric vehicles. The company, which currently operates 32 CNG trucks and six electric vehicles, plans to acquire an additional 20 CNG trucks and 20 electric vehicles this year, including Tesla Semi trucks, according to Baez.
"I commend Bali Express Services for their vision and leadership in incorporating green technology into their business model," Hacegaba stated. "These valuable partnerships are fundamental to our winning strategy. As we build the Port of the Future, alliances like this will help us address tomorrow's challenges by deploying zero-emission trucks and enhancing cross-border connectivity."
The Port of Long Beach supports supply chain partners who have made significant advancements in the sustainability of their operations. Earlier this month, the Port announced the Zero-Emission Truck Leaders Award, which recognizes companies pioneering the adoption of zero-emission trucks for operation at marine terminals. Bali Express Services is among the 43 companies eligible for the award.
