Indonesia and Singapore Commit to Maintaining Free Navigation in Malacca Strait
Indonesia and Singapore reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the Strait of Malacca open for free passage, following a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Jakarta on Monday. The strait, bordered by Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, accounts for more than 20% of the world's seaborne trade and links the Indian Ocean with the South China Sea. Both nations pledged to coordinate with other littoral states to ensure unimpeded vessel passage in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
