CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore announced the award of a contract for the transport and installation of flexible yoke mooring systems (SSY) and the connection of the Hilli Episeyo FLNG and MKII FLNG vessels in the San Matías Gulf, Argentina.
The contract was awarded by Southern Energy SA (SESA), with the backing of a first-class international consortium comprising Pan American Energy, YPF, Pampa Energía, Harbour Energy, and Golar LNG. Together, the partners are driving one of Argentina's most strategic energy projects to date.
CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore will execute the project using a fully integrated execution model that combines project management engineering, transport, offshore installations, and connection.
As the main contractor, CoreMarine will subcontract Jumbo Offshore for the transport and installation of the SSY mooring system, including heavy lifting and piling activities. Jumbo Offshore is a global leader in flexible yoke installations and has extensive experience with these types of systems in Brazil and Cameroon. CoreMarine will be responsible for diving and construction activities, including spool installation, ballasting, riser connection, commissioning, positioning, and connection of both FLNG units.
The offshore campaign will involve complex and simultaneous operations including heavy lifting, riser installation, piling, spool installation, saturation diving, and SIMOPS operations with multiple vessels.
The project will require the chartering of multiple assets, including diving support vessels (DSV), support vessels, and position-keeping tugs. The SSY systems, supplied by NOV, will allow both FLNG units to rotate around a single mooring point, aligning with environmental forces and providing a solution that eliminates the need for fixed infrastructure such as jetties.
CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore began their project management and engineering in January 2026. The installation of the Hilli Episeyo floating LNG platform is scheduled for 2027, followed by the MKII platform in 2028, marking the first application of SSY technology in Argentine waters.
