The training was organized by the Directorate of Maritime, Fluvial and Lacustrine Traffic, through the Comprehensive Center for Training and Improvement in Telecommunications and Maritime Traffic Services (CITS), with the objective of professionalizing personnel performing duties in Vessel Traffic Management and Control Centers.

For two weeks, essential content was addressed to enable VTS operators to progressively develop the competencies corresponding to their professional profile. Likewise, the necessary skills were reinforced to achieve solid situational awareness, optimize the use of available technologies, and strengthen problem-solving and emergency response capabilities.

Knowledge was also provided on the management of vessel movements within VTS areas, considering all factors affecting waterway safety.

It is worth mentioning that the program brought together personnel from different Maritime and Fluvial Traffic Management and Control Centers (VTS), which allowed for strengthening the regional focus of the training.

In this context, the role of the VTS operator was highlighted as an essential component for the fulfillment of the Prefectura's mission as a navigation safety police force. In accordance with Model Course C0103-1 of the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA), these professionals play a key role in efficient traffic management and critical decision-making.

Likewise, the training provided by the Prefectura Naval Argentina complies with the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), established in Resolution A.1158(32), on guidelines for maritime traffic services, and with IALA's technical guidelines.
