The Sepetiba Tecon terminal, located in Sepetiba Bay, Brazil, mobilized over 2,600 tons of steel pipes, which were transported to its facilities using a combination of road and rail transport.
Once received at the terminal, the cargo was stored in the operational yard and subsequently loaded onto the vessel UAL Cologne, operated by the shipping company UAL Shipping, destined for Houston, United States.
The operation highlighted the importance of integrating different modes of transport to improve the efficiency of logistics chains, especially in the movement of project cargo and steel products.
Sepetiba Tecon emphasized that this type of operation requires infrastructure capable of efficiently connecting the different stages of the logistics chain.
In this regard, the terminal has road accesses that avoid interference from large urban centers, as well as railway lines with direct access to the back area and exclusive berths for project cargo.
The infrastructure allows the terminal to receive cargo via different modes of transport, store it, and then transfer it to international maritime services.
The operation involving the steel pipes destined for Houston thus constitutes an example of the combined use of road-rail-maritime connections to facilitate cargo flow and expand the logistical alternatives available to customers.
