The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy reports that sheep meat exports registered a 34% increase in volume, with 4,669,757 product weight tons, during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year, which reached 3,497,311 tons. Likewise, the total value of foreign currency generated by these exports experienced a 46% increase and almost doubled that of the first half of 2024.

During the first half of 2026, the average value per ton of exported product registered a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The global demand for high-quality animal proteins contributes to the improvement of these values.
Argentina has 44 open export destinations. In this context, the European Union continues to position itself as the main destination for sheep meat products. At the same time, the growing dynamism of the Middle Eastern markets stands out, whose countries have significantly increased their imports of Argentine sheep meat, thus expanding international insertion opportunities for national production.
The growth in export volumes, the improvement in values obtained, and the incorporation of new markets are encouraging signs for the development and consolidation of a sector with the capacity to generate value, expand its international presence, and contribute to the growth of regional economies.
