Argentina – October, 2024 – Bunge participated in the 22nd National Reading Marathon organized by Fundación Leer, held last Friday, September 27. The initiative, whose motto this year was: "Between laughs, smiles and guffaws: when humor comes to literature," aims to mobilize millions of people to collectively send a message across Argentina on the same day about the importance of reading.\n\nThis year, more than 60 Bunge employees from 15 locations where the company operates, located in 7 provinces of the country, participated as volunteers. Prior to the Marathon, they received training with tips on the use of tones, intonations, and voice colors, as well as suggestions to enrich the reading of stories.\n\nThe volunteers visited a total of 21 early childhood educational institutions, along with 4 of their annexes,* located in some of the areas where Bunge operates: Ramallo, Campana, Necochea, Ingeniero White (Buenos Aires), Avia Terai and General Pinedo (Chaco), General Paz and Tancacha (Córdoba), Piquete Cabado (Salta), Cayastá, Puerto General San Martín, San Jerónimo Sud (Santa Fe), Frías and Bandera (Santiago del Estero), Delfín Gallo (Tucumán). At the end of the activity, the 1,060 students – from 5-year-old classrooms – received gift books.\n\n"We are always enthusiastic about participating in Fundación Leer's programs. This year, we jointly carried out the "Leer te ayuda" (Reading Helps You) program in primary schools across the country, and participated in a new edition of the "Reading Marathon" with our employees, who joined as volunteers to visit kindergartens and read stories to promote reading from an early age," said Mariana Tarigo, HRBP at Bunge in Argentina.\n\nFor more than 10 years, Bunge has been working with Fundación Leer on programs that promote reading in school-aged children, with the aim of providing tools that facilitate reading comprehension. "Initiatives like this allow us to continue leaving a positive legacy in communities," concluded Mariana Tarigo.
