During the first part, the speakers reviewed the background and circumstances that gave rise to IMSAS within the International Maritime Organization (IMO), along with the requirements that drove its implementation among Member States. Then, they focused on the current status of the Plan, with special emphasis on the review and planning process for the second audit cycle, which will begin next July.
Likewise, the day allowed linking the theoretical contents of the subject with the practical experience of the Institution as a Maritime Authority and a member of the National Maritime Administration. In this regard, the speakers shared knowledge acquired through their participation in audit teams and in functions developed within the Organization itself. Among these experiences, that of the Secretary for International Affairs, Prefecto Mayor Ricardo Antonio Romero, who served as technical advisor to the Argentine representation to the IMO during the 2024-2025 biennium, was highlighted.
