Personnel from the Prefectura Naval Argentina (Argentine Naval Prefecture) apprehended a man this Friday in the port area of Mar del Plata who had robbed a store minutes earlier.
The incident occurred at a business located at the intersection of Avenidas de los Pescadores and Dorrego. There, the subject threatened an employee, assuring her he had a firearm under his clothes, took the cash, and escaped.
Neighbors in the area pursued him to a parking lot 50 meters away, where Force personnel also quickly arrived and subdued him. During the search, they confirmed he had no weapons in his possession, but he was hiding approximately 85,000 pesos in cash among his clothes.
Later, through the Central de Monitoreo del Consorcio Regional Portuario Mar del Plata (Mar del Plata Regional Port Consortium Monitoring Center), the motorcycle the man allegedly arrived on was identified and seized with the consent of the acting prosecutor's office.
The Unidad Funcional de Flagrancia N° 1 de Mar del Plata (Mar del Plata Flagrancy Functional Unit N° 1), led by Dr. Facundo De La Canale, intervened in the case. They ordered the arrest of the 37-year-old Argentine accused, the restitution of the money to the victim, and his transfer to Unidad Penal N° 44 de Batán (Penal Unit N° 44 of Batán).
