The operation began as a result of surveillance and intelligence gathering carried out by specialized personnel of the Force, which allowed them to learn about a possible drug crossing in the coastal area of the aforementioned locality.
In this context, different observation points and patrols were deployed and, during the night, officers stationed at kilometer 1,597 of the Paraná River detected, using night vision equipment, a motorboat coming from the Paraguayan coast with several crew members on board.
The boat arrived at the Argentine coast, where its occupants threw several bundles onto the riverbank. Upon noticing the presence of the Institution's personnel, they immediately resumed navigation towards the neighboring country, taking advantage of the darkness.
Given this situation, the operation was reinforced with resources and personnel from different Prefectura units, who carried out an extensive search in the area.
As a result of the inspection, nine bundles containing packages with a vegetable substance were found abandoned on the coast.
Subsequently, in the presence of witnesses, it was confirmed that it was marijuana, distributed in different packages, with a total weight of 194 kilograms. The estimated value of the seized goods amounts to more than 747 million pesos.
The Posadas Federal Prosecutor's Office, headed by Dr. Gabriela Acasuso, is intervening in the case and ordered the seizure of the merchandise and the corresponding proceedings.
