The Prefecture Celebrated the 178th Anniversary of DIRECTEMAR

The event was led by the National Naval Prefect, Prefect General Guillermo José Giménez Pérez, along with the Consul General of Chile in the Argentine Republic, Jaqueline González Meyer.

Also present were the National Sub-Prefect, Prefect General Alejandro Paulo Annichini, the General Director of Human Resources and Development, Director of Personnel and Director of Welfare, Prefect General Aníbal Moya, General Director of Maritime and Port Security and Director of Criminal Intelligence and Investigations, Prefect General Ricardo Oviedo, the Director of Judicial Police, Maritime and Port Protection, Prefect General Luis Gularte, and the Secretary of the Latin American Agreement on Port State Control of Ships (Viña del Mar Agreement), Prefect General (RS) Hugo Cafaro.

Among the attendees were the Secretary for International Affairs, Prefect Major Ricardo Romero, the Liaison Officer of the Republic of Paraguay, Captain Derlys Javier Manevy Flores, and the Liaison Officer of the Republic of Peru, Frigate Captain Cristhian Manuel Pérez Cárdenas, in addition to senior and junior personnel of the Force and special guests.

The ceremony included the singing of the national anthems of Argentina and Chile, the screening of an institutional video of the trans-Andean organization, and the awarding of the Official Medal "Graduate in Maritime Management and Leadership," which the Naval Attaché of the Republic of Chile in the Argentine Republic, Juan Cristóbal Sepúlveda Zuñiga, presented to the DIRECTEMAR Liaison Officer to the Prefecture, Frigate Captain Alfredo Ignacio Acevedo Vera.

Finally, the officer himself offered some allusive words: “I thank the Prefecture for the opportunity it gave us.” He also took the opportunity to thank the Chilean Navy.

“For the students, it is a demanding year, both academically and personally. I receive this medal with responsibility and gratitude.” He affirmed and added: “Undoubtedly, Chile's maritime growth will demand more from us, in line with the country's progress. The Prefecture offered us its hospitality, and both institutions remain united by the safeguarding of human life at sea.”
