During the activity, which took place in the waters of the Río de la Plata, the participants practiced astronomical navigation using a sextant, with the aim of familiarizing themselves with this instrument and its operating procedures.
The training included taking the sun's altitude, meridian observation, and azimuth determination. In addition, horizon corrections and the necessary calculations to establish the vessel's position were addressed.
The day was led by professors Senior Prefect (RE) Gustavo Beltrán Larrandart and Hugo Gatta Castel, who also gave an orientation talk on sailing, the characteristics of the unit, and the maneuvers typical of this type of vessel.
In this way, the Prefecture continues to strengthen the training and nautical knowledge of the participants through practical activities that complement the content developed during the course.
