During the meeting, various issues of common interest related to navigation safety, maritime protection, marine environment protection, technical assistance and cooperation, and the strengthening of collaboration mechanisms among member states were addressed.
Furthermore, a fruitful exchange of ideas, experiences, and cooperation proposals took place among the participating Maritime Authorities, which allowed for the identification of opportunities to deepen joint work and promote new initiatives for the benefit of the regional maritime community.
Representing the Prefectura Naval Argentina, the National Naval Prefect, Prefecto General Guillermo Giménez Pérez, participated, accompanied by the Secretary for International Affairs, Prefecto Mayor Ricardo Romero. Within the framework of the meeting, the Institution presented six working documents and showcased the progress achieved in various regional cooperation initiatives.
Among the highlights, the results obtained to date in the delivery of English language training courses were presented, complementing the training activities developed in Spanish, aimed at strengthening the professional competencies of members of the region's Maritime Authorities and expanding opportunities for training and knowledge exchange.
In addition, the new institutional educational offer for homologous organizations was announced, and the cooperation capabilities of the Prefectura Naval Argentina regarding the International Maritime Organization's Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS) were made available.
Moreover, the development of the ROCRAM institutional website was showcased, an initiative whose implementation commitment was undertaken by the Prefectura Naval Argentina and carried out by personnel from the Directorate of Informatics and Communications. This tool seeks to strengthen communication among Network members, facilitate access to information of interest, and contribute to the dissemination of its activities, initiatives, and results, fostering greater integration and visibility of regional maritime cooperation.
One of the most relevant milestones of this edition was the assumption of the ROCRAM Secretariat by the Prefectura Naval Argentina for the next biennium, a responsibility that will be exercised by the National Naval Prefect, Prefecto General Guillermo Giménez Pérez, in his capacity as Secretary General of the Network. In this context, the Secretariat for International Affairs will be responsible for the operational execution of the activities inherent to this function, coordinating the necessary actions to ensure the continuity of the commitments undertaken and to promote the development of initiatives agreed upon by the member states.
This designation constitutes an important recognition of the trajectory, professional capacity, and international commitment of the Prefectura Naval Argentina, and represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen its participation in regional maritime cooperation forums, consolidate institutional ties, and translate shared proposals into concrete collaborative actions.
In this way, the Institution reaffirms its commitment to joint work among the Maritime Authorities of the Americas and to the development of policies and initiatives aimed at safeguarding human life, protecting the marine environment, strengthening maritime security, and contributing to the facilitation of trade by water.
