The China Zorrilla, the world's largest 100% electric vessel, has already crossed the Strait of Magellan aboard the heavy-lift ship Black Marlin and is currently sailing the Argentine Sea, heading towards the Río de la Plata.
"It's incredible to see it navigate amidst the immensity of Patagonia. From Tasmania, crossing the Pacific and one of the world's most challenging maritime passages, we are experiencing a truly epic journey," reported Buquebus.
"Now the final stage begins. Very soon, it will be in the waters for which it was conceived. A project of this magnitude is only possible thanks to the joint work of many people, institutions, and companies," it added.
According to Incat Tasmania, the vessel's designer and builder, the voyage is expected to take 40 days. It is anticipated to arrive at the Port of Nueva Palmira, Uruguay, on September 10.
"We are preparing, along with our current and future passengers, to make history again and demonstrate everything we are capable of doing together. The future is getting closer," emphasized Buquebus.
The vessel is 130 meters long, and its capacity allows it to transport up to 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles. It is traveling aboard the Black Marlin, a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel operated by the Dutch company Dockwise.
The Black Marlin and its sister ship, the Blue Marlin, are part of the Marlin class of heavy transport units. The vessel is too wide for the Panama Canal, which is why it sailed through the Strait of Magellan.
