The Prefectura Naval Argentina carried out a fluvial escort and security operation in Itatí, Corrientes, to ensure that students from the riverside area could attend their educational establishments, despite the access difficulties caused by the extraordinary rise of the Paraná River.
The procedure was carried out within the framework of the Paraná Plan, at the request of the local Crisis Committee and in accordance with the guidelines of the Plata Basin ENOS 2026/2027 Coordination Plan, with the intervention of the Federal Emergency Agency (AFE), under the National Ministry of Security.
During the morning and afternoon, Force personnel provided fluvial security coverage for the private boats responsible for transporting 15 students attending the Dr. Pedro Bonastre Normal School, the Fray Luis de Bolaños School, and School No. 676 Directora Balbina Niella.
The operation took place between kilometer 1277.5 and kilometer 1278 of the Paraná River, from the La Macarena complex to Muelle Viejo. For this purpose, a surface vessel and a land vehicle with support personnel on the coast were deployed to reinforce security measures given the hydrometeorological conditions of the area.
The extraordinary rise caused the flooding of land access roads to the Ibiray neighborhood, making fluvial escort essential to ensure the continuity of students' schooling.
Likewise, as long as the interruption of land access persists, the national Maritime Authority plans to continue this service on weekdays, at 7 AM, 1 PM, and 7 PM, to facilitate the transportation of students to their educational establishments.
The Institution maintains its personnel and resources deployed on patrols in the affected areas of the jurisdiction and remains available to local authorities to respond to any requirements.
