Carnival Cruise Line announced a series of family-themed experiences tied to the theatrical release of 'The Cat in the Hat,' the Warner Bros. Pictures Animation film. The initiative will run across 23 of the line's ships during the two weeks leading up to the film's release, scheduled for November 6.
The activations include 40-foot-tall Cat in the Hat inflatables on the decks of select ships during embarkation, and 'The Cat's Hollywood Debut Party,' a celebration in the ships' atriums featuring a balloon drop, a red-and-white striped carpet simulating a movie premiere, character appearances, family entertainment and crafts. Guests can also enjoy 'The Cat's Secret Surprise,' with special in-stateroom deliveries for select cabins that include themed postcards, snacks, invitations to special meet-and-greets and other giveaways.
The lineup also includes Dr. Seuss-inspired Build-A-Bear themed workshops, with Thing 1 and Thing 2 t-shirts for the bears and a special Cat in the Hat plush toy, along with Camp Ocean activities such as 'The Cat's Messy Room Mission,' 'The Cat's Stacking Challenge' and 'The Cat's Rhyme-O-Rama.' Green-screen themed photo opportunities will also be available.
At the same time, Carnival is expanding its Seuss at Sea program with two new interactive experiences: 'Seuss-a-palooza Game Time,' a main theater activity featuring music, dancing and tongue twisters inspired by Dr. Seuss, and 'Seuss-a-palooza Family Time,' where families impersonate their favorite characters, recreate scenes from the books and compete in Seuss-themed charades.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said the company has seen millions of children enjoy the world of Dr. Seuss on board its ships and that it aims to give families new ways to create special memories, as part of its 15-year partnership with Dr. Seuss. The line is also running a joint promotional spot across online platforms, television and streaming services, as well as on stateroom TVs.
