Pacific International Lines (PIL) announced the return of its Cherry Express service for the 2026 Chilean cherry season, which will connect the Port of San Antonio with the Port of Shanghai with a direct transit time of 23 days. The carrier will operate this service jointly with Wan Hai and Yang Ming.
Schedule
The schedule includes six consecutive weekly sailings between November 20 and December 25, 2026. The first will be handled by the Wan Hai 711, with arrival in Shanghai scheduled for December 13, followed by the Kota Manzanillo (departure on November 27, arrival on December 20) and the YM Success (departure on December 4, arrival on December 27).
The schedule continues with the YM Fountain, which will depart on December 11 and arrive on January 3, 2027; the Kota Cantik, from December 18 to January 10; and the Kota Cahaya, from December 25 to January 17. PIL noted that the last two sailings are subject to confirmation and that both vessels and dates may be subject to change.
Technology and Cold Chain
Among the service's features, PIL highlighted priority berthing at the Port of Shanghai, the result of agreements with port partners that, according to the carrier, help reduce vessel waiting times. The service will exclusively use reefer containers no more than five years old and will feature the PIL Cool platform for end-to-end cargo tracking.
This is complemented by the support of the PIL Reefer Centre team, which will provide 24/7 monitoring and technical assistance to support the transport of Chilean cherries to the Chinese market. MundoMaritimo added that service conditions are subject to weather factors and other unforeseen circumstances that may affect operations.
