JSV Group announced the definitive incorporation into its fleet of the container ship CanariasGreen, formerly named Njord, and its assignment to the weekly Canarias Exprés service, which connects the port of Alicante with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The vessel will begin operating on that route next week.
A vessel already familiar to the shipping line
The CanariasGreen has a capacity of 809 TEU and is equipped with an exhaust gas scrubber system, which the company says helps reduce certain pollutants during navigation. The vessel had already been operating on JSV's lines under the name Njord and now becomes the group's permanent property.
Canarias Exprés schedule
The service maintains a departure from Alicante on Fridays at 14:00, arriving in Las Palmas on Monday at 08:00 and in Santa Cruz de Tenerife that same Monday at 20:00. According to Info Puertos, booking cutoff for this service is on Thursdays at 20:00, by which time containers must already be at the terminal with customs clearance completed. JSV also offers a second connection, Canarias Regular, with departures from Alicante and Barcelona and arrivals in Tenerife, Las Palmas and Arrecife midweek.
A name with history
The vessel's naming seeks to pay tribute to JSV's bond with the Canary Islands. The group's CEO, Sonia Herzog, noted that the Canary Islands have always been the company's home and that they have spent a lifetime growing alongside their customers on the islands, which is why the CanariasGreen is also a way of honoring that history and what the archipelago represents for the group.
Third vessel in the fleet renewal
The CanariasGreen joins the recent additions of the MilaGreen and the MirandaGreen, which according to Portal Portuario complete a series of three vessels named after the company's history. JSV frames these acquisitions within a strategy to gain control over the logistics chain with its own assets from origin to destination, betting on agile vessels and frequent services to facilitate the supply of the islands.
