The Port of Málaga is kicking off one of the high seasons for cruise tourism: autumn. The port expects to receive 113 calls and around 165,000 passengers between October and November, a period marked by the presence of cruise lines specializing in the luxury and premium segments.
Of the total planned calls, 24 will be turnaround calls (with the itinerary starting and/or ending at the port), mainly operated by companies such as Star Clippers, Ponant Compagnie, Windstar Cruises, Seadream, and SeaCloud Cruises, among others. All of these are associated with a sector characterized by lower passenger capacity but high purchasing power.
In this regard, a new call by Four Seasons Yachts is scheduled for November 1, following its first visit to the Port of Málaga last spring.
The world's largest sailing cruise ship: a highlight in October
One of the major events of the season will be the first-time visit of the Orient Express Corinthian, which will also make a turnaround call at the port, scheduled for October 9.
The vessel, the first from Orient Express's new luxury maritime division, is currently considered the world's largest sailing cruise ship, with a length of 220 meters, three carbon masts reaching nearly 100 meters in height, combining sail navigation and hybrid technology. The ship features 54 suites with a capacity for 110 passengers.
The visit of this luxurious sailing ship adds to the three maiden calls scheduled for this autumn season, expanding the diversity of cruise lines and cruise profiles arriving at the port.
