Ferrol, October 19, 2026
The Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao maintains a positive trend in its cargo traffic balance. In the first nine months of this year, a total of 5,296,854 tons were moved through the docks of Ferrol and San Cibrao, compared to 5,129,492 tons in the same period of the previous year, representing an increase of 167,362 tons. This translates to a growth of 3.26%, indicating a positive trend in a context of international uncertainty affecting maritime transport.
The increase is particularly significant in liquid bulk. Between January 1 and September 30, 2026, 2,298,296 tons of liquid bulk were moved, compared to 1,747,493 tons in the same period of 2025. This represents an increase of 550,803 tons, or 31.52%, with natural gas and fuel oil being the main traffics. This increase in liquids helps to offset the renewed decrease in solids, which fell by 12.57% and recorded a movement of 2,322,455 tons.
General cargo, on the other hand, reached 676,102 tons moved in the first nine months of the year, compared to 725,586 tons in the same period of 2025. Geopolitical tensions particularly affect this segment of traffic, with a special impact on containerized cargo. At the Yilport terminal, 8,093 TEUs (104,843 tons) have been moved up to September 30.
