Valenciaport strengthened its position in August as a port serving the import/export needs of the Spanish economy, although it experienced a decline as a transshipment port for traffic connecting with other ports, especially in the Mediterranean. This is reflected in the figures from the Statistical Bulletin of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) for August: 78,614 full containers destined for export were loaded at Valenciaport's docks, a 7.14% increase compared to August 2025, while full import containers totaled 94,888 TEUs, a 6.30% increase.
In contrast, maritime transit traffic decreased by 10.78%, a circumstance that affected the overall container balance last month, with a total of 467,089 TEUs moved, 4.16% less than in August of the previous year.
Since the beginning of 2026, Valenciaport has accumulated 3,746,208 TEUs, with a variation of -1.70%, while interannual traffic stands at 5,597,849 containers, representing a decrease of 0.74%.
Calculated by weight, Valenciaport's facilities mobilized 6,397,007 tons of merchandise in August, a 1.33% increase compared to the same month in 2025. From January to August, the accumulated volume stands at 52,647,748 tons (-2.63%), while in interannual terms—the last twelve months—it amounts to 78,640,694 tons (-2.28%).
The evolution of bulk cargo and non-containerized general cargo also stands out. Liquid bulk cargo accumulated an increase of 6.14%, reaching 2.65 million tons, and solid bulk cargo (1.6 million tons) grew by 1.61%. Non-containerized general cargo totaled 10.75 million tons, a 2.53% increase.
Vehicle traffic under cargo regime continues its positive trend. In August, 41,902 units were moved, a 36.73% increase, while the accumulated annual total reached 367,237 vehicles, representing a 13.14% increase.
Rail traffic also continues its growth, totaling 2.64 million tons between January and August, a 20.83% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
In August, 265,698 people passed through Valenciaport's facilities, an 8.04% increase compared to August 2025. Regular line passengers totaled 154,021 travelers (+9.16%), while cruise passengers numbered 111,677, a 6.53% increase.
In the accumulated annual total, regular line passenger traffic reached 617,605 passengers (+1.74%), while cruise passengers, with 393,697 people, registered a decrease of 26.42% between January 1 and August 30.
