Carnival Freedom to homeport in Norfolk VA starting May 2027, replacing Carnival Sunshine
Carnival Cruise Line announced that Carnival Freedom will replace Carnival Sunshine as the year-round ship homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, beginning in May 2027. Carnival Sunshine will complete 21 cruises through mid-May 2027, while Carnival Freedom is scheduled to arrive on May 15th, 2027, and operate 33 cruises from Norfolk VA during the remainder of the year. The 3000-passenger vessel will offer diverse itineraries to the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Eastern Caribbean, and Canada. Combined cruise operations from CCL and NCL are projected to bring more than half a million cruise passengers to Norfolk VA in 2027.
