Singapore amends maritime authority law to regulate autonomous vessels and cybersecurity
Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (Amendment) Bill was introduced for First Reading in Parliament on 06 Oct 2026. The amendments address digitalisation, autonomous vessels, and emerging maritime technologies. The Bill establishes a comprehensive licensing framework, strengthens MPA's intervention powers for stranded vessels, introduces cybersecurity requirements under a sectoral framework, and enhances investigative and enforcement powers. Parliament will debate the Bill at Second Reading in November 2026.
