Argentina Sanctions 'Hai Xiang 2' Vessel for Illegal Fishing in its Exclusive Economic Zone
The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries detected the Vanuatu-flagged vessel "Hai Xiang 2" operating illegally in Argentina's Exclusive Economic Zone. A fine of $1,833,000,000 (1,000,000 Fishing Units) was imposed on the owning company. This is the fourth vessel sanctioned in 2026 under the zero-tolerance policy, with the support of the Argentine Naval Prefecture and electronic detection technology.
