Karavolades Stairs closure disrupts cruise passenger operations in Santorini
The 558-step Karavolades Stairs linking Santorini's old port to Fira closed due to a private building wall collapse, impacting cruise operations at the popular Aegean destination. Cruise passengers with shore excursions will now disembark at Santorini's new port in Athinios, with restrictions on passenger percentages temporarily lifted. Over 25 cruise ships from Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian, P&O and Celebrity are scheduled to visit in August.
