National Geographic Sea Bird records fourth gastrointestinal outbreak in Alaska waters
National Geographic Sea Bird, operated by Lindblad Expeditions, reported gastrointestinal illness outbreaks during two consecutive Southeast Alaskan voyages in July. According to the CDC, 32 passengers and crew members were affected across the July 10th–15th and July 15th–20th sailings. Laboratory testing previously confirmed norovirus caused the vessel's first two outbreaks in late May and late June. The CDC has recorded 9 GI illness outbreaks on cruise ships during the 2026 season, with 4 involving the Nat Geo Sea Bird.
