Antofagasta Port Breakwater Expansion Begins with "First Stone" Ceremony
Biminister Louis de Grange led the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Antofagasta Port breakwater. The Antofagasta Port Company will contribute $36,874,477,981 (80.4% of the investment) and the Regional Government $8,999,996,000. The project will reduce port closures by 80%, increase capacity from 3 to 7 million tons annually, and allow the reception of New Panamax vessels, with completion projected for the end of 2028.
