Emerald Cruises & Tours celebrated the ceremonial launching of the Emerald Lumi at the shipyard in Romania. This milestone represents a significant step towards its inaugural season on the Seine River, departing from Paris in 2027.
The Emerald Lumi was specifically designed for the Seine River, measuring 110 meters in length, allowing it to navigate deep into the heart of Paris and Honfleur, where few other riverboats can reach. With a maximum of 130 passengers on board, the Star-Ship will feature an intimate and contemporary design, with spacious staterooms and suites offering innovative all-weather balconies.
"The launching of the Emerald Lumi into the water is an exciting step towards offering a new style of river cruising on the Seine. By combining extended stays in key ports with carefully curated local culinary and historical experiences, plus a selection of EmeraldACTIVE excursions, this new itinerary offers a more immersive and relaxed way to explore northern France than many traditional river itineraries," stated Elisabeth Sadler, Vice President of River Cruise Product for Scenic Group.
Starting in March 2027, the Emerald Lumi will undertake the new eight-day "Sensations of the Seine and Normandy" itinerary, departing from and returning to Paris, and arriving in Honfleur. Passengers will enjoy extended port stays, with overnight calls and late departures in destinations such as Honfleur and La Roche-Guyon.
The construction of the Emerald Lumi is being led by Scenic Group's team of experts at MKM Yachts and is part of the shipping company's ongoing investment in its river and yacht fleets.
Along with the Emerald Lumi on the Seine, the Emerald Cruises fleet continues to grow with the Emerald Kaia and the Emerald Astra, which recently began their inaugural seasons, and the new superyachts Emerald Raiya and Emerald Xara will follow in 2027 and 2028.
Sister brand Scenic is also expanding its line of ultra-luxury Scenic Discovery Yachts. The fleet will feature the Scenic Ikon in 2028 and new riverboats in Asia, on the Mekong River in 2028 and on India's Hooghly River in 2027.
