The new Viking Mira kicked off its maiden season after welcoming its first paying guests onboard on June 5, 2026.
Sailing from Civitavecchia to Barcelona, the 998-passenger ship offered a seven-night cruise to the Western Mediterranean.
The itinerary was highlighted by calls to destinations in Italy, Spain and France, featuring an overnight visit to the port of Livorno.
The cruise ended in Barcelona, the Viking Mira also called on Cannes, Marseille and Sète.
After its maiden cruise, the 54,300-ton ship is scheduled to offer a repositioning voyage to Northern Europe ending in Reykjavik.
The 14-night itinerary will be followed by a summer season sailing to destinations in Scandinavia, the British Isles and the North Sea.
Highlights of the deployment include Viking's "Into the Midnight Sun," which features visits to Scotland, the Shetland Islands and Norway. The two-week voyage will be offered in July, with two departure dates.
After being delivered by the Fincantieri shipyard in late May, the Viking Mira was christened at a special ceremony in Venice, Italy.
As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, Rebecca "Becky" Webb Wilson, an attorney, author, photographer and philanthropist, served as the ship's ceremonial godmother.
During the ceremony, a Viking broad axe was used to cut a ribbon that released a bottle of Norwegian aquavit, which broke against the ship's hull.
The inaugural festivities also included a performance by Sissel Kyrkjebø, a crossover soprano who served as the godmother of the Viking Jupiter in 2019.
After welcoming the Mira to its fleet, Viking is now getting ready to take delivery of a second ship in 2026: the Viking Libra.
Set to enter service in December, the 54,300-ton vessel will become the first cruise ship powered by hydrogen.
