Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán.- The National Port System Administration Lázaro Cárdenas (ASIPONA Lázaro Cárdenas) led the Second Beach Cleanup Day as part of its annual cleanup program, aligned with Mexico's National Strategy for Beach and Coast Cleanup and Conservation.
The activity took place on June 26 at "Playa Cancuncito" (Cancuncito Beach), a space recently adopted by ASIPONA Lázaro Cárdenas to promote permanent conservation actions.
Participants included representatives from the Sixteenth Naval Zone, the Regional Port Captaincy, SEMARNAT, PROFEPA, CONAGUA, ADUANA, and the H. City Council of Lázaro Cárdenas, Mich., as well as students from CETMAR No. 16 and the Polytechnic University of Lázaro Cárdenas.
Companies from the port sector also joined, such as APM Terminals, Hutchison Ports, LC Logistics, Terminal Portuaria del Pacífico S.A. de C.V. (TPP), SSA Lázaro Cárdenas, Grupo Fertinal S.A. de C.V., Carbonser S.A. de C.V., bringing together a total of 157 volunteers committed to environmental care.
Thanks to the coordinated work of all attendees, 302.15 kilograms of waste were collected, and more than two kilometers of coastline were cleaned.
ASIPONA Lázaro Cárdenas contributes to reducing marine pollution and reaffirms its commitment to environmental care, strengthening citizen participation in building a cleaner and more sustainable port.
