In anticipation of rainfall, personnel from the Ecology department of the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) Manzanillo are carrying out cleaning and desilting work on drains with the aim of preventing floods in the city.
As part of these actions, sewers, drains, and formwork were cleared of clothing, accumulated soil, trash, and various waste. During the work, scrap metal, leaf litter, and other residues were also collected, totaling 262.3 kilograms of removed material, which was transported to the corresponding sites for final disposal.
ASIPONA permanently maintains these cleaning and clearing tasks for storm drains and pipes before, during, and after rainfall, in order to prevent damage caused by the silting of the drains.
Among the areas addressed are the drains of Jalipa and Tapeixtles, as well as Plan de Guadalupe street in Las Brisas. Additionally, cleaning work was carried out on drains located outside the port area, as well as on floodgates and storm drains within the port facilities.
With these actions, ASIPONA Manzanillo reaffirms its commitment to prevention and environmental care for the benefit of the population, contributing to maintaining a cleaner city better prepared for the rainy season.
Likewise, the entity invites the public to join these prevention efforts by avoiding the disposal of waste that could obstruct drainage systems and cause harm to the community.
