The National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM), in coordination with the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), identified an import operation with inconsistencies in the information declared to the customs authority. This was a result of the institutional mechanisms for risk analysis, intelligence, and operational monitoring implemented at the Customs of the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, in Michoacán.
As a result of control actions and the corresponding documentary review, undeclared merchandise was detected during customs clearance. Consequently, a precautionary seizure of 115,200 writing articles was carried out, in accordance with applicable regulations.
The detection was made possible thanks to the implementation of strategic analysis tools, the verification of commercial backgrounds, and the evaluation of risk profiles. These mechanisms strengthen institutional capabilities to prevent possible irregularities in foreign trade operations.
ANAM and the Secretariat of the Navy reaffirm their commitment to strengthening customs security and control through the use of operational intelligence, technology, and inter-institutional coordination schemes that contribute to protecting national interests, ensuring compliance with the law, and strengthening legality in the country's commercial exchange.
