As part of the investments aimed at strengthening port infrastructure, Specialized Container Terminal I (TEC I) of the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, operated by Hutchison Ports LCT, incorporated 12 new ARTG (Automated Rubber Tired Gantry) yard cranes.
"The National Port System Administration Lázaro Cárdenas recognizes the investments made by the companies that make up the port community, especially highlighting the strong investment and firm commitment of Hutchison Ports LCT to the technological and sustainable development of the facility," indicated the Port Authority.
"These actions not only contribute to the development of strategic infrastructure but also enhance the port's competitiveness and consolidate Lázaro Cárdenas as a world-class logistics platform, prepared to meet the demands of maritime trade with higher levels of efficiency, innovation, and sustainability," it added.
The new cranes arrived at the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas aboard the MV Xiang He Kou vessel, from where they were unloaded for incorporation into the operations of Specialized Container Terminal I. This investment represents an important step in the modernization of the terminal and strengthens the port facility's capacity to more efficiently handle the sustained growth of national and international maritime trade.
Manufactured by the company ZPMC, the new cranes stand out for being 100% electric and incorporating remote-controlled operation technology (Remote-Controlled ARTG), features that will optimize yard maneuvers and strengthen safety standards during operations. This represents a significant environmental advance, contributing to the reduction of emissions associated with port operations and supporting sustainability and decarbonization strategies.
