The Port of Lázaro Cárdenas registered a total movement of 13,014,936 tons during the January-May 2026 period, a figure that represents a 21% growth compared to the 10,747,627 tons mobilized in the same period of 2025.
Containerized cargo reached 6,470,052 tons, equivalent to a 20% increase compared to the previous year.
Regarding port movement, the port handled 739 vessels, a figure 2% higher than in 2025.
Of the total vessels received, 60% were container ships, confirming Lázaro Cárdenas' logistical vocation as one of the main maritime distribution centers in the Mexican Pacific.
For its part, container movement reached 1,143,555 TEUs, representing an 11% growth compared to the same period of the previous year, strengthening the port's strategic position in international logistics chains.
In the automotive segment, the port registered the movement of 260,359 vehicles, of which 179,358 corresponded to imports, mainly from Asia. Of the total imported vehicles, 49% originated from China, 35% from Japan, and 11% from South Korea; the remaining 5% corresponded to units from other countries. These figures reflect the growing relevance of the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas as a gateway for the Mexican automotive industry.
These results reflect the port's operational capacity, connectivity, and competitiveness, factors that continue to drive its growth and strengthen its role as a strategic platform for foreign trade and the economic development of Mexico.
