Panama has commenced receiving international troops and equipment for Panamax 2026, a multinational exercise focused on strengthening the security of the Panama Canal. The operation will gather approximately 1,700 personnel from around 20 countries in America and Europe.
The first contingents from Ecuador, the United States, Colombia, Peru, and other nations arrived with specialized personnel and operational equipment to conduct maritime, land, and air simulations. The maneuvers aim to improve interoperability and coordinated response to threats against strategic infrastructure.
The exercise reaffirms the importance of the Panama Canal in global maritime trade and strengthens international cooperation for the protection of critical logistical routes.
